Stephanie’s mindful movement is the most wonderful yoga class I’ve taken. She will focus and adjust class movements to ensure clients’ particular needs are met. As a runner with various injuries, her classes help me take the time to focus on stretching and recovery. I’m looking forward to trying more of the other diverse classes this year.

Stephanie’s personalized therapy sessions are amazing! She has helped reduce my pain by teaching me how to be more conscious of how I position my body doing everyday movements. She is skilled and explains everything so effectively.

I am a 64 year old male. Stephanie carefully listened to me describe my many aches, pains and lack of range of motion. She provided excellent feedback to address my issues, and patiently explained and demonstrated the proper form for the stretches and exercises she prescribed. After having incorporated her input to my exercise regimen I feel less aches and pains, and have a greater range of motion. My upper and lower back, legs, specifically IT bands feel better than they have in years. I will continue to reach out to Stephanie for her excellent professional guidance and instruction.

Stephanie is very welcoming to everyone, whether they come to class once or follow her around to her different locations. Once you come to a session, it seems you’re hooked!

I had heard about chair yoga and had tried 2 other instructors and found out about the free sessions at the Philmont library. Went once and was hooked. At the end of the first session, I was asking Stephanie if she had other chair yoga sessions!

I find myself with improved posture and breathing and I’m so glad I took that first step with Stephanie.

Stephanie has done more than yoga for me at 62, her Yoga for Health & Vitality have helped me concentrate and improve on my core strength, along with some concentration on our joints and bones. Her classes are calm and friendly, encouraging us to participate during the class and continue to use the lessons during everyday activities. I would encourage all ages & abilities to check her class out. Thanks Steph!

Yoga / Sound / Spa was delightful & enlightening. It placed me in a better place having experienced a very difficult few months.

I thought yoga was stretching and getting into weird positions and holding it, like, forever. Wearing special clothes and things I could never see myself doing.

After my first class I knew I wanted to do it again. I had wanted to do something for my aging body but didn’t know what it could be. This I could do, get benefits from doing it and not hurt myself in the process.

Stephanie is easy to talk to. She answer questions and explains why we are doing this move – like gaining strength in your arms, and it’s okay with her if I don’t do it right or get tired. There’s never any pressure. Stephanie speak softly and calmly and make me laugh.

Just go once. Join in and have fun with an open mind. Don’t expect miracles overnight, but change will come and you will feel a difference in your ability to move and do everyday things.

I started yoga because of my neuropathy, but a side benefit that I wasn’t expecting is that I’m sleeping better. I used to be up half the night. Once I’d wake up I had trouble getting back to sleep. I’ve found myself sleeping better, waking up less, and able to fall back asleep when I did. On a day that I go to class I sleep even better. It’s a benefit I never dreamed would happen.

I am a huge fan of Roots Holistic Wellness and Stephanie’s incredible classes. I live part time near Chatham and then also in NYC and I almost never miss her classes. She has made a huge difference in how my body moves, my balance and the sense of serenity that I have from her teaching. I work out 5-6 times a week in different modalities and Stephanie’s yoga therapy classes are a huge highlight. GO! Try one! You will never want to stop.

After doing chair yoga with Stephanie three times a week, I feel a shift in my mental clarity; it has helped me a lot with the grieving process! It has also helped me with my flexibility and my physical strength. I have neck problems and yoga has helped me to relax my neck.

When experiencing a sound bath at Roots, I could literally hop on my spaceship and be taken to the next dimension. Beautiful & so well curated!

I was attending yoga classes at RHW when a problem with my knee made it impossible to participate. Stephanie responded by suggesting moves to achieve the same benefits -all while teaching her class. After my knee was replaced, my recovery was greatly enhanced by my participation in RHW classes. Stephanie Gaylord knows what she’s doing. I am forever grateful.

Roots Holistic Wellness offers a true yoga therapy practice rather than traditional fitness-based yoga classes. The approach is highly intentional, combining therapeutic strength work, embodiment practices and intentional meditation to support physical rehabilitation, nervous system regulation and overall well-being.

Classes feel more like workshops, emphasizing a functional awareness of movement and holding patterns in the body, with guidance on how to safely build strength, stability and resilience. This somatic awareness helps to improve daily movement habits and stress response while improving overall quality of life.

This is a deeply informed, evidence-minded practice that supports long-term health for both body and mind. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a therapeutic, integrative approach to yoga.

I have been taking Stephanie Gaylord‘s yoga classes for a little over three years now and my favorite thing about Stephanie is that she is always evolving and bringing new learning to her practice. I can truthfully say that we have never had the same class twice in all the time I’ve been with her. At the beginning of each class, Stephanie asks us students how we are feeling today. No matter what we come up with (feeling a little stiff today, feeling a little low energy or wanting a higher energy work out) Stephanie is ready to provide guidance to meet the moment. During the session, she gives us little reminders about breathing and not trying to be perfect and feeling the ground underneath you, which are so helpful when trying to learn new poses and are the key to making the whole experience safer and more enjoyable. I would recommend Stephanie to anyone who wants to enjoy the experience of practicing yoga. I stay with Stephanie because through yoga she makes me feel good and I believe that’s the best practice there is.

I tried my first class right after finding out about it and was pleased with the outcome. I have neuropathy, and my balance is very much affected, so I am hoping to gain strength and control to avoid falling. I can see some improvement since I have been coming to the classes.

I am pleased with the way Stephanie instruct us, and I enjoy being part of a group and knowing I am not alone in trying to improve my problem. Stephanie is very informative and willing to offer advice on many different aspects of holistic wellness. I feel better about my exercise and strength, and I plan to continue as long as possible.

Participating in a Roots Holistic Wellness special event is a great way to focus in on the skills we learn in our Mindful Movement yoga classes, but in a more condensed form. Stephanie Gaylord always designs her teaching to accommodate learners at any level. The benefit of doing a special event is that Stephanie can work with a smaller group and tailor her instruction to address questions as we go along. I recently took Stephanie’s body mechanics series. She instructed us in a simple, total body overview for stretching and strengthening in four targeted classes. Combining what we learned in those four classes gives me a 20-minute routine to follow which will help me stay strong and limber. At 70 years old, I know the benefits of this kind of workout are more important than ever.

Stephanie is very kind and knowledgeable about yoga and I can tell that she cares very much about helping people with their problems! She has given me a lot of exercises to help with my neck problems. My friend Lisa told me about the classes and not knowing much about I thought I would give it a try and I’m so happy I did, it’s helped me tremendously. I was having a lot of neck problems and she has helped me a lot, and going to yoga has helped with my depression following the loss of my husband.

Stephanie is a great teacher! I’ve taken multiple Mindful Movement classes now but as a newbie I was apprehensive… Stephanie was warm, welcoming and attentive to the needs of the class! I also have taken her Lymphatic class which was super. Highly recommend her and her classes!

The body mechanics class is great for improving strength and agility. It’s especially useful for people like me who want to stay active in their sixties and seventies. After completing the four sessions I feel stronger, more limber, and better prepared for any sport or activity. I left the course with a stretching and strengthening routine I can integrate into my daily life.

Throughout the years, I had ‘tried’ yoga many times. And, although I always knew that a yoga practice would be beneficial in my life, I never continued a practice for any length of time. After retirement, I promised myself I would try again – and now I understand why it had never worked for me before. I had never found a yoga teacher like Stephanie.

Stephanie is thoughtful and attentive to everyone’s physical issues (in our class of mostly 60+ ladies), and she has a plan and purpose for every class. She is patient and non-judgmental, which keeps me motivated. Thoughtful in her preparation, she is always bringing new and interesting ways to improve our practice as she learns and grows along with us. As I’m learning healthier ways to breathe, I find that I’m falling asleep faster, waking up more refreshed, and able to relax more completely. My practice has improved my body’s tone, flexibility, and balance more than I was ever able to achieve with other kinds of training or exercise.

So, thank you Stephanie for all of your dedication and genuine kindness in helping me and others learn how to find peace and better health in these challenging times. I look forward to continuing the journey together with you.
